Tyler + Emily // wedding

At the beginning of this month I traveled up to Rogers City to photograph Tyler and Emily’s wedding, and, wow, I have been so eager to share their day with you all.
Never have I seen a Knights of Columbus hall so beautifully transformed. I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped. Every surface had a DIY shabby chic touch: flowers and lanterns graced the tables, lights and fabric covered the walls, and large prints of their engagement photos hung in handmade frames.

The ceremony highlighted their love for God, for each other, and for nature. The rain –thank goodness!– held off for portraits at his family’s farm. Their reception was jam-packed with people who love and care for them. It was a truly beautiful day, and I was so blessed to have witnessed it and created these photographs for them. Enjoy, friends.
Congratulations and God’s richest blessings on your life together, Tyler and Emily!

McShanes // family

Fall is on its way. My teacher-husband is a week away from the First Day of School, a few trees on our street are orange, and this cool morning has me dreaming of scarves-and-boots weather. Fall sessions are hands-down my favorite. So let’s turn back the pages to last fall when I met up with this lovely family (my sister/brother-in-law and their adorable girls) at McHattie Park in South Lyon. Sisters, swings, dreamy light. Mmm… hello fall.

Chris + Kimber // wedding

Their first date was in the fall of 2008. It went so well – they joke – that Chris and Kimber had a second date… five short years later. That second date was soon followed by a long distance relationship, a surprise proposal, and finally, their July wedding day.

Chris and Kimber were married with a beautiful ceremony at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flint (which included a children’s message and the involvement of five different pastors – including both of their fathers), and the party happened at Crossroads Village. Chris designed her ring, he made the bow-ties, and Kimber’s mom made the gorgeous gown, plus the bridesmaids’ dresses.

Chris and Kimber are both exceptionally tall (their wedding hashtag #twotallwalshes pays tribute to that). But on a deeper level, they are both creative, fun-loving, Christ-following individuals, who care deeply about their people, and who make a terrific duo. What a privilege it has been to celebrate these two friends of mine by photographing their wedding day.
Chris and Kimber, I wish you all the best as you continue on in this new adventure!

Dathan // newborn

This family of four welcomed me into their home for a session of this little one, ten days new at the time. Tiny toes, big (alert!) eyes, and so much love from his big sister.
